What We're Up To

Bryce's band, Geek Empire, is playing on Saturday night at Smokey's in Mesa. It's free to get in and I'm sure Bryce would love for anyone to come see the show.

I know, I know this blog is turning into promotion headquarters for Geek Empire. Unfortunately, there is not much else going on in our lives right now. We are getting ready for kindergarten to start and trying to wish away the hot weather.

P.S. We will find out what we're having (boy or girl) end of August/beginning of September.

Idaho Family Reunion

After visiting with Devin and Becky we met my family in Lava Hot Springs, ID for our family reunion. We had a great time tubing down the Portneuf River.

Not a great picture, but this is Bryce, me, my brother Danny, Ethan and Caitlin. It was not such a good idea to bring the kids. It was pretty rough when we went down. Ethan did okay, but Caitlin went completely under the water about three times. She was not a happy camper by the end.

That night we took everybody over to the Hot Pots. They have 4 pools of hot spring water there (each hotter than the last). They were really hot! I could only put my legs in (in my condition). I think everyone had a good time, but man, are there a lot of mosquitos in Idaho!

The next day we went up to Chesterfield, ID. Both of my Mom's parents have family that lived there, but now it's a ghost town. My grandparents have spent years restoring the town (as part of a church mission and on their own). It is always fun to go and learn about our ancestors and see the improvements.

This is the Ira Call Cabin that my ancestors built and lived in. Many of us in my family have helped to restore this building.

Rexburg, ID

While we were up at my family's reunion, we snuck off for a couple days to visit Bryce's sister, Becky, and her husband Devin. They were so nice to let us take over their apartment and keep us busy.

They took us up to Mesa Falls and we had a nice little hike/walk around the falls. It was so pretty and a little scary.

Then Devin and Becky took us to Monkey Rock. It is a nice little lagoon type area at the base of a little waterfall. The water was cold and I'm a wimp, so I stayed out of the water. It was so nice of the guys to take the kids into the water.

The girls with Becky. Do they look a little cold? Devin also did some bungee river boarding. It was scary and I'm glad it wasn't my husband. Sorry Becky.

The next day was spent relaxing at the park and feeding the ducks.

Devin and Ethan feeding the ducks.

Avery love, love, loved the ducks.

I love places where you can sit on the grass without slicing up your legs. I never knew why they were called "blades of grass" until I moved to Arizona.

And Avery even got to practice her mountain boarding technique. Not many can do it will holding a sippy. Someday she'll go pro, just watch.

The Monte L. Bean Museum

We're back from our vacation! Maybe all our new pictures will be some incentive to blog.

In our family we love the Bean Museum in Provo. We visit every time we are in Utah. In fact this time we went twice. And it must be a pretty popular destination because I saw two friends there this time. Shari who is in our ward now, and Annette who used to be in our ward. We must be pretty boring because we tend to take pictures of the same things every time we go. It's funny to see the evolution of our kids with the animals, though.

Ethan seemed to be more afraid this year than usual... of everything.

I'm going to say that's Caitlin being less afraid, but it's kind of hard to tell. I guess next year we'll have to start Avery with the Olive Baboon.

And another one of our traditional poses (bear on kid on dad).

Caitlin or Avery?

Quiz Time! Anyone think they know who is who? Sometimes I can't even tell. Click to zoom in.

Maybe it's not as hard as I thought. Ethan just got most of them right.

Bryce's band, Geek Empire, got pictures taken of the band the other day. So, I thought I'd share one of them. Isn't my husband just the cutest?
